Cutting edge technology for heavy good vehicles is under development from Volvo to substantially reduce the weight of Trucks. The technology has been developed by the aircraft division of the company and is predicted to reduce the weight of trucks by 20% with no reduction in payload.
The technology is estimated to be about 10 years away from being ready to bring to market within the haulage industry. Their is a keen appetite for this technology in the HGV market, as with a reduction in weight there also comes a reduction in both running costs and emissions.
